What is dust mite allergy?

House dust mite allergy; It is also known as dust allergy, mite allergy or house dust allergy. The cause of house dust allergy is the house dust mite. House dust mites (house mite, dust mite, mite) are 0.2-0.3 mm in size, blind and 8-hooked (arthropod). In medical sources, house dust mite is known as Dermatophagoides (D). There are many different species and the two most important are D. Farinea, D. Pteronyssinus. These creatures are too small to see with the naked eye and feed on human skin rashes. For this reason, they generally prefer areas where people live crowded and spend a long time, such as home, workplace, movie theater, shopping mall. In our house, the bedroom and especially the inside of the bed, sofas and carpets in the living rooms, quilts, cupboards where we store our belongings, furry toys are a breeding ground for house dust mites and the excrement of these creatures cause allergic diseases.

House dust allergy symptoms; Especially during house cleaning processes such as sweeping, shaking, dusting, and processes that ventilate house dust, and during sleep, house mite feces (house dust allergen) come into contact with our eyes, nose and lungs by breathing, but only in those with house dust mite allergy that can cause year-round allergic rhinitis (straw). rhinitis, allergic rhinitis). they cause eye allergy (allergic conjunctivitis) or allergic asthma. When the patients go outside, that is, to the fresh air, the symptoms of the disease decrease. The number of house dust mites increases even more in humid environments, therefore, house dust mite allergy symptoms increase in humid houses, humid regions and seasons (April-May, September-October).

What should people with house dust allergies do?

The essence of the recommendation is to remove dust-proof items from the house as much as possible, to choose dust-proof and easy-to-clean items, and to have a simple house with little furniture and easy to clean. Do not have thick fabrics or furniture covered with them, velvet curtains that will collect dust in your home. It is recommended that the floor of the house is made of wood or laminate, the furniture is made of leather or easy-to-clean synthetic and dust-proof materials. It is definitely inconvenient to cover the rooms, especially the bedroom, with carpets. Washable thin curtains or cleanable blinds should be preferred. It should be preferred that the furniture is covered with leather or synthetic leather and supported by rubber. House cleaning should be done with a hepa filter vacuum cleaner, the room and floor should be wiped with a damp cloth 1-2 times a week, and the rooms should be ventilated during cleaning. Clean the dust between the air conditioner and heater. Do not stay at home or in the room where the cleaning is done for 1 hour during and after cleaning. Do not use heavy-smelling substances such as air freshener, mothballs, chlorac, or porcinium in house cleaning. Do not smoke at home and prohibit smoking at home. Such heavy smells and cleaning materials, cigarette smoke can increase our allergic rhinitis and asthma complaints. Use liquid detergent instead of powder detergent. Do not prefer wool quilts and blankets on your bed. Choose fiber quilts instead of blankets and do not use your quilts without a duvet cover. Ventilate your bedroom every day, shake your bed linens, bedding frequently and air out in the sun. Change the pillow cover and linens every week and wash and iron at 60 degrees. Ensure that your home, and especially your bedroom, is moisture-free. In humid houses, the level of house dust mite increases and causes an increase in complaints. Definitely do not keep pets (cats, dogs, birds and other animals) because your body is allergic, and over time you may develop allergies to animals. Do not have potted plants in your home because potted plants increase the rate of mold in the air and similarly pave the way for mold allergy development. If you have to be in dusty environments, use a mask that covers your mouth and nose.

House dust allergy treatment; If there is an allergic rhinitis treatment, allergic asthma treatment is applied.
