What is abdominoplasty?

Abdominoplasty is one of the cosmetic operations that are performed in order to remove excess fat from the abdomen, where excess fat is removed by making a horizontal incision starting from one side of the abdomen extending to another side.

To determine if you are a candidate for this operation, you should know that candidates for this surgery are men or women who have:

Excess sagging skin in the abdomen.

Abdominal muscles stretched after pregnancy, weight loss or aging.

The presence of wrinkles or stretch marks that extend beyond the area covered by your bathing suit.

Excess fat in the abdomen not responding to diet or exercise programs.

The problem of excess fat accumulation in the abdomen and its appearance or so-called rumen which occurs after weight gain and sudden weight loss, or after pregnancy and childbirth, is one of the most prevalent problems at the present time.

It negatively affects the life of the individual whether socially or functionally, as well as his psychological and health status.

There are many reasons that lead to such problems, including:

Skin sagging after sudden weight loss.

Excessive accumulation of fat in the abdomen.

Loss of skin elasticity over time.

Loosening or separation of abdominal muscles due to pregnancy or due to weight gain.

Abdominal contour deformity may be caused by a number of factors, the most important of which are:

1- Excess fat in the abdomen, this excess fat may be due to the accumulation of natural fat, which is caused by excessive body weight and obesity.

2- Distension and stretching of abdominal muscles due to pregnancy.

3- Aging, as it weakens the abdominal wall and increases its laxity, especially after childbirth.

4- Fatty infiltration of the muscles and fascia (connective tissue) surrounding the abdomen, making them less flexible and causing poor abdominal contour.
