Tummy Tuck Aesthetics
The abdominal region plays a very important role in the physical structure of a modern person. For this reason, patients with excess fat, sagging and cracks in this area try to hide their condition by wearing appropriate corsets and clothes. Another way to get rid of this problem is tummy tuck surgery.
Abdominoplasty
It is the operation of removing the fat tissue along with the excess skin in the abdomen, removing the cracks, removing the looseness in the anterior abdominal wall, and tightening the abdominal muscles again. The most suitable candidates for this procedure are men and women with complaints of excess fat and skin laxity and sagging skin that cannot be eliminated by diet or exercise.
Especially after birth, sagging and cracks in the abdominal skin and relaxation of the abdominal wall muscles occur. If there is no excess skin, liposuction is appropriate for the patient, but surgical intervention is performed for patients with excess skin on the abdomen.
Patients who will undergo this operation should have quit smoking at least 10 days before. Because the blood flow to the tissues decreases in smokers and wound healing may be adversely affected.
Who Is Abdominoplasty Surgery Performed?
- If there is significant loosening and sagging of the skin.
- If there is excess fat and skin in the area.
- If the muscles are relaxed and spaced apart.
- If you have significant stretch marks in the abdomen, you may be a good candidate for this surgery.
What is Abdominoplasty Anesthesia Type?
Abdominoplasty surgery is performed under general anesthesia. The surgery can be performed in two different types, mini Abdominoplasty and Abdominoplasty. Mini Abdominoplasty is used for very slightly sagging abdomen, and Abdominoplasty is used in cases with severe sagging of the abdominal wall and excess fat. If mini Abdominoplasty is to be performed, it can be used for sedation and local anesthesia.
What is the method of surgery?
A long-acting local anesthetic solution is given to the area to be operated. This liquid will both reduce your pain and allow the fat to be removed more easily. First, the excess fat around the abdomen and waist is removed with the liposuction method, and then a longitudinal incision is made between both groins and the skin is completely separated from the underlying muscle tissue and the navel. Then, the excess skin under the navel is removed, the separated abdominal muscles are tightened and the incisions are repaired in layers, creating a new place for the navel. After this surgery, your abdomen will become flat.
After Abdominoplasty
After the operation, you will be dressed in your corset. A drain is placed to take out the fluids and bleeding that may accumulate under the skin, usually this drain is 2-4. Abdominal Stretching Surgery You should pay attention to your lying position, especially for the first 4-5 days. You will lie in a “V” shape so that you do not stretch the seam line, that is, with your back and legs up. After 1 night in the hospital, you can be discharged the next day.
You can walk from day one. After the 4th day when the drains are removed, you will be able to move quite comfortably. In the first 10 days, the swelling will gradually increase and then begin to decrease. The stitches boil on the 12th day on average, and there is no need to take stitches. In this process, the patient can return to his daily activities. Abdominoplasty corset should be worn until 1 month after the operation.
Swelling and bruises seen in the first weeks are normal and begin to decrease over time. However, you need to wait 1 month for the swelling to go away completely and for you to see the final result of the surgery. After 3 months, you will have a better appearance, and after 6 months you will be much thinner.
Abdominoplasty, whether partial or total, gives excellent results for people with weakened abdominal muscles and loose skin. In many cases, the results are permanent if a balanced diet and regular exercise program are followed. Tummy tuck surgery (Abdominoplasty) can also be performed together with surgeries for body contour correction (aesthetic breast surgeries, liposuction, arm and leg stretching, etc.).
What is Mini Abdominoplasty?
Sometimes patients may have skin laxity, but not too much wrapping. In such patients, it is impossible to remove all the skin under the navel. In such a case, the patient can be performed a mini tummy tuck surgery. A shorter incision is made in mini tummy tuck surgery. Partial excess under the belly button is removed, liposuction is performed and the skin is repaired in layers. As a result of this surgery, your belly is displaced a little bit.
I personally prefer full tummy tuck surgery instead of mini tummy tuck surgery. If I cannot remove the lower part of the navel, then I close the navel, as a result, a vertical scar of 1-2 cm is left just above the suture line, but in this way, there is a chance to remove much more tissue and skin. Therefore, the abdomen becomes more tense and flat.
Is There Any Scar After Abdominoplasty?
Yes, after the tummy tuck surgery, a thin scar remains between the two groins, leaving the underwear inside the swimsuit. This scar is like a cesarean section, but longer. When you have many stretch marks on your stomach, you can think of them as a single stretch mark that will remain in a hidden place. This trace will turn into a rather vague state after 1-2 years.
