Skin tumors (Skin cancer) information

Benign tumors protruding from the skin are sometimes mistaken for lumps or acne. Unlike malignant tumors, benign tumors are not life-threatening and do not necessarily need to be removed. Be careful. There are various types of cysts, such as epidermal cysts, sebaceous cysts, and lipomas.

A cyst is a pouch-shaped lump. In other words, an epidermal cyst refers to a lump in the form of a circular pouch just below the skin and protrudes convexly. If the pouch is filled with contents such as pus, and the pouch bursts during removal, the contents will contaminate the affected area and increase the likelihood of recurrence.

In addition, since the contents often have a bad odor and can cause inflammation around them, you should visit a dermatologist to find out the exact type and proceed with treatment.

Lipoma is characterized by excessive proliferation of fat cells and is characterized by softness. If it is small, it can be left as it is, but in some cases it grows by 10 cm or more over time, and it can rarely develop into a malignant tumor.

Dermatofibroma is a tumor commonly referred to as the umbilical cord, and tends to occur in areas where the skin is wrinkled or rubbed. It mainly appears on the neck, armpits, and groin, and although it is not contagious to other people, it is often not aesthetically pleasing because it is brown.

Small cysts may be removed entirely by extruding from a dermatologist. However, surgery is inevitable if the size of the tumor is large or if radical removal of the tumor is desired. It is important to clearly identify the size, shape, and boundary of the excessively proliferated tissue through ultrasound examination, etc., and then accurately remove the tumor site through local anesthesia and minimal incision. For small tumors, sutures may not be necessary, but for large tumors, delicate sutures are required to avoid scarring.

In some cases, it is possible to claim actual cost insurance, which can reduce the burden on the patient. However, the insurance benefits for benign tumor removal surgery depend on the contents of the insurance, so be sure to check the terms and conditions in advance.

The key to treatment is to manage to avoid secondary infection and scarring. Clumsy self-treatment may make the condition of the lesion worse and cause adhesions with surrounding tissues, making it difficult to treat. Therefore, it is important to cope with the small size of the tumor at an early stage.
