Should we use liquid soap or solid soap?

While some of us prefer bar soaps to ensure hygiene, some of us prefer liquid soaps. According to research, potentially harmful microbes and bacteria can live on solid soaps that remain wet for a long time. But don’t let this mislead us, because liquid soaps can contain bacteria, although not as much as solid soap. Especially in liquid soap bottles that are used repeatedly, there can be bacteria because they are not cleaned properly. Experts state that solid soaps are healthy for family use, but liquid soap is healthier in public places.

Here are the differences between liquid soap and solid soap;

• When you wash your hands with solid soap, some of the bacteria can stick to the soap. This may cause the person who uses it after you to be exposed to them.
• The pH balance of liquid soap is more variable because potassium hydroxide is used in its production. This means that much more additives can be put into it without breaking its structure. For this reason, we can say that liquid soaps can wear out the hands more than solid soap due to some of the substances in it.
• Liquid soap has a longer shelf life because solid soap can melt.
• If you are sensitive to the environment, you should choose solid soap. Because liquid soaps leave a 25 percent larger carbon footprint than solid soaps.
