Nose tip surgery – Rhinoplasty – Nose job

Like other plastic surgeries, nose sculpting is not only the domain of the famous and the rich, but it is also decided by ordinary people, and the success stories of change are just the tip of the iceberg.

The appearance of an unaesthetic nose may or may not be accompanied by difficulty breathing due to the growth of the nasal septum. However, it is important to distinguish between aesthetic nasal surgery and functional nasal surgery (septoplasty). Experienced nasal surgeons perform these procedures both individually and in combination, and in any case are preceded by detailed consultations where all options, wishes and risks are discussed. Realistic expectations arise from information and, of course, mutual trust.

Nose surgery or rhinoplasty (rhinoplasty) is a cosmetic operation that can be used to model the appearance of the nose and correct functional defects. The operation can resize the nose, reshape the tip of the nose, reduce the width of the nostrils, or change the angle between the nose and the upper lip. In addition, nose surgery can correct birth defects and injuries and help people with breathing problems.

As with other plastic surgeries, the patient’s realistic expectations are important, not the desire for ideals and perfection. In addition, good health and psychological stability are important in a patient considering nasal surgery. With the help of an experienced surgeon, the appearance of the nose can be significantly improved, and often this really coincides with the patient’s vision of perfection.

There have been several studies around the world on aesthetic nose surgery, confirming that the operation is associated with a significant increase in self-esteem.

Different problems, different techniques

Due to the possibilities and complexity of nasal surgery, there is no one-size-fits-all surgery that meets the needs of all patients in the same way. Nasal surgery is performed differently for each patient, adapting the operation to the patient’s needs and, of course, prior thorough consultation. The patient must be aware of the opportunities and risks. There are two possible accesses to the nasal carcass to change its shape: the closed method and the open method. In closed nasal augmentation, incisions are made intranasally, and the skin and subcutaneous tissue are separated from the underlying structures to model the skeletal and cartilaginous skeleton: bone is repositioned, cartilage is added, bone is removed, and so on. In the open method, a cut is made on the skin of the columel (between two fingers), postoperative scars are minimal.

If nasal obstruction occurs at the same time, it can be corrected intranasally during the same operation (septoplasty). The operation is performed under general anesthesia.

Preparation for and recovery from surgery

For best results, it is important to follow your doctor’s instructions, including refraining from smoking for several weeks before and after surgery, and to avoid certain medications, such as aspirin and anti-inflammatory drugs, for at least ten days before surgery.

Nasal surgery is understandably a minor trauma to the body, so it is important to rest in bed after surgery and keep your head above your chest to reduce bleeding and swelling. In order to recover quickly and successfully and to achieve the result started by the surgeon, it is important to observe the following precautions for several weeks:

  • Avoid efforts such as training, lifting heavy weights, yoga, etc .;
  • Avoid swimming;
  • Prevent nasal sniffing;
  • Avoid foods that require a strong memory.
  • Avoid strong facial emotions such as laughing and crying.
  • Brush your teeth very gently to reduce movement of your upper lip;
  • Wear clothes that can be pulled on without having to pull them over your head.
  • Do not wear glasses or sunglasses for at least 4 weeks after surgery to avoid excessive pressure on the nose. Also avoid direct sunlight for at least 3 months – too much sun can cause permanent skin damage.
