A better anatomical knowledge of the structures of the face, and in particular the description of the Smas (superficial musculo-aponeurotic system of the face) by Vladimir Mitz in 1976 has made it possible to perform facelifts on several levels. Tightening the skin and the deeper structures separately helps to increase the power of the listing while keeping a natural and homogeneous appearance on the face. Then facial endoscopy appeared in order to reduce the scars resulting from the facelift, but it did not last long because in these techniques no skin is removed! More recently, volumizing treatments (which aim to increase the roundness of the face) have come to contribute even more to the effective rejuvenation of a sunken, aged or wrinkled face!
