What is Breast Cancer?

Breast cancer means the uncontrolled proliferation of cells that make up breast tissue. In the nucleus of the cells in the body, there are genes that control the normal growth and health of the cells. These genes take part in the reproduction of cells. Of course, these genes may be degraded by various factors such as radiation and environmental factors.

Breast Cancer Symptoms

Today, 1 in 8 women all over the world may develop breast cancer at some point in their lives. However, one in every 30 women dies from breast cancer.

The symptoms of breast cancer, which is the first among the cancer types seen in women, can be listed as follows;

Breast Cancer Causes

At the same time, exposure to radiation, exposure to chemicals and gases, weak immune system, smoking and alcohol consumption can be counted among the causes of breast cancer.

Women should manually examine their breasts after each menstrual period, and in case of any difference they observe, they should consult a doctor without delay. However, after the age of 40, every woman should apply for early diagnosis methods by making use of breast radiology techniques every 6 months.

Methods used in the diagnosis of breast cancer; They are high-tech imaging devices such as manual examination, mammography, digital mammography and MR. Especially women in the risk group should not disrupt their routine controls.

Breast cancer is known as the most common type of cancer in women worldwide. Among all cancers, it is the most common type of cancer after lung cancer. According to the data, breast cancer can occur at any time in the life of one out of every eight women. Although there is no clear data about the cause of breast cancer, factors such as genetic characteristics, poor nutrition, socio-economic status of the person, menstrual cycle, birth control pills and births may be determinative.

Early detection of breast cancer can save 90 percent of people’s lives. Therefore, regular breast control is very important. People should manually check their breasts and if they notice any hardness, they should consult their doctor without delay. Breast cancer is cancer cells that develop in the milk ducts inside the breast tissue. About 80% of breast cancers occur in the milk ducts of the breast. Cancer-causing cells take a long time to grow. However, after it grows, cancer cells can spread to other parts of the body through the lymph and blood.

Although breast cancer is not as common in women, it can also be seen in men. Moreover, the proliferation of cancer cells develops faster in men. The likelihood of developing breast cancer increases with age in women. In general, if the mother or sibling has breast cancer, which develops more frequently between the ages of 50-70, the risk increases 3 times. Women with a family history of breast cancer should have regular check-ups at the age of 40.

Today, significant strides have been made in the treatment of breast cancer. Thanks to early detection of cancer, breast cancer treatment with 100 percent success has become possible.
