How should the first aid be given to the fainted person?
There is a confusion in the society about how to intervene in the fainted person, and in fact, the right things are not done. The fainted person falls to the ground with a bang during the fainting.
Things we can help the fainted person
- If we are next to you when falling, hold it so that it does not hit something.
- Do not try to sit the fainted person. Since the body will try to get blood to the brain by knocking itself out, we can prevent this by sitting down.
- Lay the patient flat on the floor. Head and heart level should be equal.
- While the patient is lying on the floor, remove anything around him that could harm him.
- If the patient has something in his mouth, if he is eating at the time, the thing in his mouth should be removed, the airway should be kept open
- The patient’s head should be turned sideways to keep the airway open
It is useless to give water to a fainted person or to smell things like onions or ammonia to wake him up. Because these do not solve the fainting of the patient, they do not contribute to the blood supply to the brain. Water can get into your lungs, causing other problems. Even if we try to warn the patient by smelling something, it is useless. Because when there is enough blood in the brain, the patient will wake up on his own.
When the patient regains consciousness, it is possible to make him sit down, give him some water, give the patient a sugary drink or give a lump of sugar, especially in fainting due to low blood sugar. If the patient cannot fully recover, it will be right to transfer him to the hospital in the most appropriate way.
