Healthly Eating

The subject of healthy eating is currently on everyone’s lips. Whether it is the fight against obesity, the desire to be more athletic or the attempt to get closer to a vegetarian or vegan diet – everyone has their own personal motivations. The good news: You don’t have to do without pleasure and can still enjoy delicious food with a healthy diet.

What does a balanced diet look like?

In summary, one can say that a healthy diet covers all nutrients in their right proportions and thus provides all important vitamins and minerals. In this way, the body can function optimally and thus protect itself from diseases or even strengthen its immune system. Because it is not only important what you eat, but also when you eat.

The most important building blocks of your food are proteins, carbohydrates and fats (lipids). Carbohydrates provide energy for our bodies, proteins are needed to build muscle mass and fats are the main source of energy for our brain. In addition there are vitamins, minerals and trace elements such as iron or magnesium.

The problem of overweight and obesity is growing, especially in industrialized countries. In Germany, for example, every third person is overweight or even obese. The reasons for this are different: too much food, too little exercise and hereditary predisposition.

A healthy diet should be about more than just losing weight. It plays an important role in overall health and should help to prevent the development of chronic diseases such as heart attack, stroke and diabetes. A balanced diet therefore requires a long-term change in eating habits.

A healthy diet not only tastes delicious, but also makes you feel good. Because good food with the right nutrients strengthens your immune system and provides more energy for everyday life. So that you can enjoy your healthy diet to the fullest, we will show you what a healthy lifestyle means and how you can eat healthier according to the recommendations of the German Nutrition Society (DGE).

A healthy diet is not synonymous with starving or eating certain foods; it is about a balanced and varied diet. The focus is on fresh foods that are as little processed as possible. These contain many important vitamins, minerals and secondary plant substances that your body needs for everyday functioning.

Healthy diet with fruit and vegetables

Vegetables, fruits and whole grains should be the main focus of a healthy diet. These foods provide many nutrients and are low in calories, which makes them particularly suitable for weight loss. In addition, they contain a lot of water and fibers, which fill you up quickly and for a long time.

In addition to fruit and vegetables, you should also eat fish twice a week. Fish such as salmon or herring provide valuable omega-3 fatty acids that reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. In addition, oily fish promotes fat burning and helps to maintain muscle mass.

Eating meat is not wrong in itself – it contains valuable protein that is important for muscle building. However, when choosing your meat products, make sure that they contain little or no fat: beef steak (sirloin) instead of e.g. Pulled pork or sausages. In addition to poultry such as chicken or turkey breast cutlet, legumes such as lentils or chickpeas are also suitable as sources of protein for vegetarians and vegans.
