The eyebrow lift designates a cosmetic surgery intervention which aims to replace the eyebrow thanks to a skin resection located just above it and as discreet as possible.

This intervention makes it possible to treat the weakening of the lateral part of the eyebrow most often, or of the eyebrow as a whole.

It is not intended to modify the features but to replace the anatomical structures in the position which they had a few years earlier.

Eyebrow lift and upper blepharoplasty are often combined. In this case, the eyebrow lift reduces the skin resection at the level of the upper eyelid.

An eyebrow lipostructure [reinjection of the patient’s own fat] can be associated in case of fatty melting of the Charpy pad.

Anesthesia

Three methods are possible:

• Pure local anesthesia, where an anesthetic product is injected locally to ensure the insensitivity of the operated area.
• Extensive local anesthesia with intravenous tranquilizers (“wake-up” anesthesia)
• Classic general anesthesia during which you sleep completely.
• The choice between these different techniques will be the result of a discussion between you and the surgeon.

Modalities of hospitalization: the intervention can be performed “on an outpatient basis”, that is to say with a discharge the same day immediately or after a few hours of monitoring.

Post-operative follow-up

There is no real pain, but possibly some discomfort with a feeling of tension above the eyebrow.
During the first few days, you must rest and avoid any violent effort.

The postoperative course is essentially marked by the appearance of edema (swelling) and bruises (bruises), the size and duration of which vary greatly from one individual to another.

We sometimes observe during the first days a slight overcorrection of the position of the eyebrow. The slackening of the skin that will follow in the following days or weeks will make it possible to find the correct position of the eyebrow.

The sutures, if they are not absorbable, are removed between the 7th and 10th day after the operation.

The stigma of the intervention will gradually diminish, allowing the return to a normal socio-professional life very quickly (variable depending on the case). The initial redness of scars can be concealed for the first few months with makeup.

Results

A delay of 1 to 6 months is necessary to really appreciate the result. This is the time needed for the tissues to regain their flexibility. However, the healing will be final after a period of 1 year.

The intervention will most often have corrected the sagging skin and replaced the eyebrow, thus “opening up” the gaze and eliminating the heavy appearance of the eyebrow.

The results of an eyebrow lift are, in general, long-lasting. On the other hand, the skin continues to age and the muscles continue to move: therefore, in the long run, a recurrence of the ptosis of the eyebrow can occur. However, it is rare that a new intervention is considered before a dozen years.

The goal of this surgery is to bring about an improvement and not to achieve perfection. If your wishes are realistic, the result obtained will give you great satisfaction.
