Eyebrow Lift
A brow lift can be performed with an endoscope, which is a thin tube with a camera at the end. The surgeon will make tiny incisions in your hairline and insert the endoscope.
A forehead lift can also be performed using traditional open surgery. In this procedure, your doctor will make a longer incision that runs from ear to ear on top of your head. They will then separate the scalp from your skull and trim away any excess skin before closing the wound.
The endoscopic technique may be less invasive than the open technique, but the latter is more effective for removing excess skin.
If you have drooping eyebrows and deep furrows between your eyes, an eyebrow lift can make your face appear younger. It can also treat sagging eyelids, which can impair vision.
Eyebrow lift is usually done on an outpatient basis, so you should be able to go home the same day.
You may need someone to drive you home after surgery and stay with you for a few days if your recovery time is longer than usual.
Most people who get brow lift surgery are between 40 and 60 years old. But if you have a low, sagging brow that makes you look angry or sad, you may want to consider a brow lift sooner rather than later.
Brow lifts can help with:
- a sagging or deeply furrowed brow
- low-set eyebrows that make you look tired or sad
- excess skin or deep creases across your forehead
- lines or wrinkles on your forehead, between your eyes, or in the upper eyelids
Will You Be a Good Candidate for Eyebrow Lift Surgery?
If you are unhappy with the appearance of a low or sagging brow, you may be a good candidate for an eyebrow lift. If you have deep frown lines between your brows, and if your eyebrows sag over your eyes, causing hooding of your upper eyelids and making you look older or more tired than you feel, you may benefit from an eyebrow lift.
During your initial consultation with Dr. Perkins, he will evaluate your brow position, skin elasticity and facial structure to determine the best approach to achieve natural-looking results. In general, ideal candidates for an eyebrow lift will:
- Be in good overall health
- Have realistic expectations for surgery
- Not smoke
- Have either thick skin that will heal well or thin skin with good elasticity
- Have no serious medical conditions that would increase the risk associated with surgery
An eyebrow lift, also known as a forehead lift or browplasty, is a type of cosmetic surgery that raises the eyebrows by removing excess skin from the forehead. It can also reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles around the eyes.
Eyebrow lifts are most commonly performed on people over 40 years old, when the skin starts to lose elasticity and develops lines and wrinkles. The procedure can be performed alone or with other types of cosmetic surgery, such as blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) or face lifts.
Eyebrow lift surgery can help rejuvenate a sagging or deeply furrowed brow, improve the horizontal lines and furrows that can make a person appear angry, help elevate drooping upper eyelids, and create a more refreshed and youthful facial appearance.
An eyebrow lift is often performed with other procedures such as eyelid surgery or a facelift.
Most people return to work within two weeks after an eyebrow lift. You should avoid strenuous activities for three to four weeks.
Most scarring will fade over time.
Your eyebrows will have been taped into place by your surgeon using strips of surgical tape.
