Benefits of strawberry

Strawberry is one of the fruits with the highest antioxidant value. The substances we take into our body due to environmental factors such as air pollution and chemicals that we are exposed to during the day have a toxic effect on our body and cause the production of free radicals that cause diseases. Antioxidants protect us against many diseases by fighting these free radicals.

The substance called anthocyanin, which gives it its red color and has antioxidant properties, has a protective effect on heart health.

SCIENTIFIC NOTE: A study conducted on 93,600 women in 2013 states that women who consume 3 servings or more of fruits rich in antioxidants such as strawberries and blackberries a day have a lower risk of heart attack than those who do not.

Strengthens the Immune System

I told you that strawberries are rich in antioxidants. Vitamin C, which we all know very well, is actually one of the most important vitamins that have antioxidant properties and strengthen the immune system. Fruits such as strawberries and blackberries sit on the throne of fruits such as oranges and tangerines, which are indispensable in the winter months.

Our daily need for vitamin C is about 60 – 75 mg. 1 serving, namely 10-12 strawberries, contains 90 mg of vitamin C and more than meets our daily vitamin C needs. Thanks to all these vitamins, strawberries help strengthen the immune system and reduce inflammation.

Vitamin and Mineral Source

Strawberry; Apart from vitamin C, which is a powerful antioxidant, it also contains many vitamins and minerals. It contains vitamins of group B such as B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 as well as vitamin E and vitamin K. With 1 portion of strawberries, you can meet 10% of your folate need, which is very important especially during pregnancy. Calcium, iron, copper and magnesium are also some of the minerals found in strawberries.

Helps to Lose Weight

Did you know that fibrous foods help to lose weight? In addition to being intestinal friendly, foods containing fiber also help to lose weight by prolonging the time of satiety. The World Health Organization recommends a daily fiber intake of 25-30 grams. Fruits and vegetables are one of the best sources of fiber. 1 serving of strawberries also contains about 3-4 grams of dietary fiber. If you consume it with 5-6 almonds in between meals, it will prolong the time of satiety and help you lose weight.

Shows Cholesterol Lowering Effect

If you have a cholesterol problem, it’s time to love and consume strawberries. We all know the effect of fibrous foods on cholesterol. Thanks to the fiber in strawberries, it plays a role in lowering bad cholesterol. But the effect of strawberries on cholesterol is not only due to the fibers in it, but also the antioxidants it contains have a positive effect on cholesterol.
