Common Causes Of Excessive Hair Loss In Women | Hair Care Tips

Reason number 1: Genetics

Men often view their fathers, grandfathers, and other male family members as indicators of whether or not they will go bald. The same goes for women. If your mother or grandmother had hair loss, you probably inherited these genes as well.

Reason number 2: Alopecia

Studies have shown that the main cause of hair loss in both men and women is alopecia. This pattern of hair loss is repeated in family history. About a third of women experience this in their lifetime. Although it affects both sexes, men and women lose their hair differently. Men often have thinning hairlines, while women lose their hair in the duck.

Reason number 3: Lichen

Lichen is a fungal infection that causes skin redness and itching. It can occur anywhere on the body, but scalp lichen is quite common and unfortunately causes hair loss. Scientists from the Mayo Clinic explain that fungi known as dermatophytes attack the skin and hair, causing bald seals or rings on the head. Anyone can get lichen, but you have a higher risk if you work with children or animals, or engage in athletic activities where you sweat a lot and wear tight clothing.

Reason number 4: Hair pulling disorder

Unlike the reasons above, pulling out hair is a mental condition, not a physical one. According to the Mayo Clinic, this condition, called trichotillomania, is characterized by an irresistible need to pull out one’s own hair. Stress, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder are the most common causes of this condition. Speech psychotherapy and medication can help overcome this problem.

Reason number 5: Hormonal changes

Whether you’re pregnant, taking the pill, or going through menopause, hormonal changes are taking control of your body. The shock from dramatic hormonal changes can cause thinning and hair loss.

Reason number 6: Physical or emotional shock

Having a traumatic experience affects your body more than you think. The American Hair Loss Association explains that extraordinary emotional or physical experiences such as childbirth, complicated surgeries, the loss of a loved one, or any form of extreme emotional stress can lead to hair loss. Fortunately, this is usually a temporary condition and hair will eventually start to grow back.

Reason number 7: Hair styling and treatments

Hair styling and treatments Sometimes being a girl means spending a lot of time straightening your hair. In this regard, all hair styling leads to excessive use of hair dryers, presses or figaro, as well as the use of intensive preparations. So leave hairstyling only for some special occasions.

Reason number 8: Medications

You are probably aware of all the side effects of the drugs you take. However, people often believe they lost weight because of genetics, not because of the medications they were taking. Some of these drugs include blood thinners, antiepileptic drugs, anti-inflammatory drugs, antidepressants, and even birth control pills. If you notice that your hair is falling out, re-read the medication instructions to make sure they are the real culprit.
